Unread client messages now chase you
A client message nobody has opened after twelve hours now emails the stylist it belongs to. Nothing to switch on.
When a client writes in, we already email you once to say so. What we didn't do was follow up — so a message that arrived on a busy Saturday could sit unopened until someone happened to notice the count next to Messages, which is only ever seen by a person already at the dashboard.
If a client's message hasn't been opened twelve hours after it arrived, we email you again. One email, per conversation.
Who gets the email
The same person the first one went to: the client's preferred stylist, if they have one with a login here, and the salon's owners if they don't. It deliberately doesn't go to the whole team — a nudge that lands in five inboxes is one nobody in particular has to act on.
What starts and stops the clock
- The twelve hours run from the oldest message you haven't read, not the newest. A client following up on a message that was already sitting there doesn't push the reminder back another twelve hours.
- Opening the conversation is what stops it — in the dashboard or in the staff app. There's no button to dismiss and no setting to turn it off.
- One reminder per stretch of unread messages, however long that stretch runs. Read the thread and the next message a client sends starts a fresh clock, which can earn a fresh reminder.
The check runs hourly, so the email goes out at the first check after the twelve hours are up — anywhere from twelve to thirteen hours after the message arrived. It's a nudge, not a stopwatch.
Threads that were already unread
Conversations left unread from before this shipped won't trigger a reminder. We know they're unread but not when they went that way, and guessing would have meant emailing every salon about every thread anyone had ever left open. They behave normally from the next message a client sends.
Your conversations live under Messages (opens in a new tab) in the dashboard, and on each client's own record.
