Products, and stock counting if you want it
Add the products you sell to a new Products page and sell them at checkout. Counting stock, back-bar supplies included, is a switch under Settings › Products & stock that's off until you turn it on.
There's a new Products item in the menu. Add what you sell, with a price, and sell it at checkout with the cart's Product button. The sale, the receipt and your numbers pick it up like any other item.
Counting stock is optional and off to start. Selling products works without it. To count, go to Settings › Products & stock and turn on Count stock.
What counting stock adds
- A count for each product. Selling one takes it off the count. Taking it off a sale, or the appointment being canceled before it's paid, puts it back.
- Low-stock warnings at a level you set for each product, with Warn when down to.
- Back-bar supplies: things you use but never sell, like color, gel polish, ink or gloves.
- Supplies a service uses. List them on the service's page under Supplies used, and they come off the count when the appointment is completed.
- Deliveries and stock counts, logged on each product's page and kept in its history.
Worth knowing
- Each product can opt out with Count this item's stock.
- A count can go below zero. Checkout never refuses a sale because of the count, and a stock count puts the number right.
- A refund doesn't put stock back, because a refund is about money. If the product came back, add it back on its page.
- Turning counting off keeps the counts where they are and stops changing them. Turning it back on carries on from there.
- Counts are whole numbers, so count liquids in a small unit, like ml.
Not in the staff app yet
The staff app's checkout can't pick a product from your catalog yet. Use a custom charge there, which won't change the count, or check out in the dashboard.
