Merge duplicate client records

Found the same client twice? Merge any two records from the client's ⋯ menu, accounts included. Appointments, sales, payments, notes and messages all move to the one you keep.

You can now merge any two client records at your business: two guests, two accounts, or one of each. Before, a merge could only fold a guest into an account. Now any two can be merged, and everything moves, sales and payments included.

Open either record, choose Merge with another client from its ⋯ menu, find the other one, and pick which record stays. You'll see what will happen before anything changes.

What happens

  • Everything moves to the record you keep: appointments, sales, payments, notes, formulas, photos, messages and marketing history. The other record is removed.
  • Where both records have a detail, the kept record's wins. Anything it's missing is filled in from the other, and allergies from both are kept.
  • If either client opted out of emails or marketing, that stands.
  • A note on the kept record saves the other email and phone number.
  • Online accounts: if only the removed record has one, it comes across and the client still signs in with the same email. If both have one, only the kept record's sign-in keeps working.
Can't be undone

A merge is permanent, so check you've picked the right two. If both records have saved cards, the merge stops: Stripe can't combine two sets of saved cards, so remove the cards from one record first.

Merging is in the dashboard only. The staff app can't merge clients yet.
