Who gets your marketing emails

Guests start opted in, account holders choose, and every one can unsubscribe in a click. Here's where each answer comes from.

Marketing email only reaches clients who are opted in to it. That's checked when each email goes, not when the campaign or automation was set up.

Who starts opted in

Guests are opted in by default. That's anyone without an account on your booking site: people who booked as a guest, clients you added yourself, and clients you imported from a spreadsheet. They stay in until they unsubscribe or you switch it off on their record.

  • When they create an account on your booking site, there's a switch for marketing email. It starts off, and their answer replaces the guest default.
  • On their account page, under notifications, where they can switch it on or off at any time.
  • On their client record, where you can set it under preferences, for someone who's told you in person.

Unsubscribing

Every marketing email ends with an unsubscribe link. It also carries the standard one-click unsubscribe that mail apps like Gmail show as a button beside the sender. Either one switches marketing email off for that client straight away and takes them out of any marketing automation they're partway through.

  • It's your salon only. A client who unsubscribes from you still gets marketing from any other salon they said yes to.
  • It's marketing only. Appointment confirmations and reminders carry on.

Emails about a visit

An automation set to About a visit, like aftercare or appointment prep, follows the client's appointment-email setting instead, because it's about a booking they made. That's also why it can't carry a promotion.

Checking what was sent

Marketing › Emails (opens in a new tab) lists every email Inchair has sent for your salon, with a preview of what it said. A few carry private links, like password resets and invitations, and those are listed without a copy.
